Vanke pavilion was featured during the Milan Expo in 2015, located on the southeast edge of the Lake Arena with a total area of 800 sqm. The twisted structure allows fluidity in circulation from the exterior to the exhibit area. Whilst the main concept behind this construct revolved around Chinese cultural elements, it boasts a dynamic structure that fuses both internal and external space, allowing an unexpected integration of both pavilion and its surrounding public space. Vanke, and it’s placement near the lake transforms the public space, harmonizing local and global.
Could you explain why you think this is an example of “modern architecture”?
