The National Assembly Building of Bangladesh, also known as Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, is the house of the Parliament of Bangladesh, designed by Louis Kahn and completed in 1982. Kahn aimed to design a building that emphasizes Bangladeshi culture and heritage, while at the same time optimizing the use of space. As a result, the exterior of the building is formed by huge walls and large openings of geometric shapes. An artificial lake surrounds three sides of the building while portrays the riverine beauty of Bangladesh. For the interior, light-giving elements were introduced under the concept of “solid column as a giver of light”.
What do you mean by “optimizing the use of space”?
